Y seams

After telling one of my Monday Patchwork ladies last week that it had been far to long since I'd pieced on triangles on a 'Y' seam, I though i'd better 'Talk the talk & walk the walk'....So I spent a few very pleasant hours yesterday make a star block. (Needs a jolly good iron in this picture.)

Oh and while I was at the machine, I make my first Christmas present, a patchwork bag.

Sewing classes at my new workshop

I'm so excited-I've got a new workshop. It's at the vibrant and extremely creative Lingfield point, Darlington. 

I feel I have to keep pinching myself at being so lucky and enjoying my job-my business. 

And as such my creativity has gone through the roof! 

I have moved In to the same building as Tabby Textiles, owned by Becky Sunter and I simple cant can't to bounce creative ideas off her.

Lingfield has a long history with the sewing trade as Patton Baldwins and Coats were based there in yester-year.

And with the new studio will come the  workshops to teach sewing skills from beginner level to advanced sewers.

The first of many workshops is 

Patchwork & Quilting-held at Unit 21f, Lingfield point, Darlington. 

Beginning on Wednesday 11th sept 10.00-12.00 for 5 weeks. 

The course will be £65, with all equipment provided and all you will need to bring is a few fat quarters, yourself and a sewing machine if you have one. 

And of course the all important tea and bikkies will be provided through out. 

Places going fast so book your place early to avoid disappointment.

More work on the birds

I have been working on one of the bird pictures today, adding details and shading.
Starting with a lighter mustard coloured thread, moving on to a tan and then a deeper brown.
I also decided to add similar shading to an image of bird houses. I love bird houses and did a sketch during a family day out.
They both still need LOADS of work but I'm pleased with the results so far.

First Blog Ever

I've been working on some drawings and transferring them in to stitched images. I have so much more work to do on them but I'm actually quite happy with them.

I have done a number of studies of birds and thought this was a good place to start. I always seem to go back to stitch. Some how I feel comfortable with this medium and as it 'works for me' I'll stick with it.
